Disability
We aim to be a disability-friendly college. Last year we welcomed over 3,000 students who a declared disability. Our track record in supporting students with disabilities was identified as one of the strengths of the college in our last Ofsted inspection.
We have a team of over 60 support workers who can help with mobility, personal care, classroom support and other requirements. We can provide specialist assessments and equipment. Our Disability Statement gives full details of access to our buildings, our facilities, our services and support for students with disabilities, mental health difficulties and/or learning difficulties. You can get a copy of this from reception at our main campuses, as well as at our local centres and on our website.
We are, of course always working towards improving our services and we regularly consult our students with disabilities and value their ideas about potential improvements.
Many of our students with disabilities successfully apply for financial help from our Learner Support Fund – this can help with transport, essential equipment and course fees.
We are committed to ensuring that disabled people, including those with learning disabilities, are treated fairly. All reasonable adjustments to provision will be made to ensure that disabled students and other disabled people are not substantially disadvantaged.
If you disclose information about a disability to us, we will use the information sensitively. We'll work with you to identify and provide any support you need to be successful and to participate in all aspects of college life. Information about our courses and facilities is available in large print, Braille and tape on request. Contact our Enabling Services Coordinator Bill Bucknall on 0121 204 0000 to discuss any support requirements you may have.
All colleges are required to have a disability statement which describes in detail our services and facilities for people with disabilities. This is updated annually.
