Governance

City College Birmingham Corporation was formed following a merger between East Birmingham College and Handsworth College on 1st August 1998. The Corporation operates under the Further and Higher Education Act 1992 for the purpose of conducting City College, Birmingham.

The Corporation consists of twenty members. It meets regularly throughout the year and operates through a number of committees.

The responsibilities of the Corporation are to determine the educational character of the college and to ensure its well-being and financial solvency.

Our board of governors are drawn from the public and private sector, and each member brings with them significant expertise in one of more areas. Governors are drawn from the staff, students, local employers and public authorities which provides the college with a rich mix of experience and views to guide the strategic management.

The Clerk to the Corporation will deal with any requests for information at a minimum immediately and at a maximum within 15 working days.
